There’s
exciting news for those who dream of waking up on the waterfront.
The construction work on Limassol’s new €350 million luxury marina
and waterfront is well under way and on target for an autumn 2012
launch date. According to a recent report in the Cyprus Mail, work
has begun on construction for yacht mooring and the development
of residential, commercial and cultural buildings which will all
be part of the new luxury marina complex.
Limassol
Marina will combine elegant homes with exclusive restaurants, shops
and conference space. Apartments start at around €440,000 and properties
in this project are VAT exempt. Sales have already been launched
for the first phase of the resort which will offer a wide range
of luxury apartments and penthouses.
A
special floating crane is being used to dredge mud and materials
from the sea which will allow the construction of a solid foundation
for an island where a number of luxury villas will also be built.
There
will also be a sailing school – called the Hanseatic Nautical School
– and an underground car park for 700 vehicles and work has begun
on both these buildings.
The
marina will be able to accommodate all types and sizes of vessels,
ranging in length from 8m to 100m and will also have a dry dock
for light repairs and maintenance. Marina facilities and services
will be based on the highest international standards and it will
be operated by Camper & Nicholsons, one of the world's oldest
and most prestigious yachting business names.
It
is hoped that the new marina will welcome the first yachts in the
autumn of 2012. It is very close to Limassol’s old harbour and historic
centre around the medieval castle and, according to its creators,
“it is destined to become the most exclusive marina resort in the
Mediterranean and one of the finest in the world”.
